Wed, 14th of August - Day 2

An overview of the area around us.

Joseph caught the first fish of the trip! A small roach.

We then got a few more of the same kind.

We passed Clonmacnoise, known for being one of the first monastic sites in Ireland. It still has well preserved examples of high crosses, round towers and a cathedral.

The twins at Clonmacnoise.

Going through Athlone.

I tried to go down the weir, but the water level was so low that it wasn't even much fun.

We spent the night at Coosan Point, a sheltered dock on lower Lough Ree.

I managed to catch the first pike of the trip.
